Golf: Panthers preparing for 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The LaGrange golf team is making preparations for the 2016 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. The Panthers have had practice rounds at the Midvale and Mendon Country Club courses, the sites for the national tournament which begins Tuesday.

The Panthers tee off Tuesday at noon at the Mendon Country Club course. They will play at Midvale Country Club on Wednesday. The 41-team field will be cut to 15 teams after Wednesday's round. The final two rounds will be played at Midvale.

The Panthers' five-man lineup consists of senior Alex Ball; juniors Logan Lanier, Anthony Scolapio, Osborn Theam; and sophomore Eric Havixbeck.

Lanier is currently the No. 2 ranked player in Division III by Golfstat. He is the USA South Player of the Year and an All-Conference first team selection. Scolapio was a USA South All-Conference selection, while Theam was a PING All-American as a sophomore.

The Panthers are making their third straight trip to the national tournament, and eighth overall under long-time head coach Lee Richter. Richter led the team to a runner-up finish at the 2015 tournament, the highest ever by a LaGrange athletic team in a NCAA championship tournament.
