Golf: Panthers move up to fourth after second round of USA South Championship

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The LaGrange golf team moved up to fourth after the second round of the USA South Championship on Saturday at the Benevenue Country Club.

The Panthers had a team score of 310 for a two-day total of 627. They are six shots back of third place Piedmont. Methodist leads the tournament, followed by Huntingdon.

Logan Lanier carded his second straight round of 76 to lead the Panthers. He is eighth in the individual standings. Eric Havixbeck is tied for 14th, five shots back of Lanier after a round of 79.

Osborn Theam had the team's second best round with a 77 for a 160 total. Anthony Scolapio had an 81 and is one shot back of Theam. Alex Ball improved by 10 shots over his first round score, finishing with a 78 for a 166 total.

The tournament concludes Sunday.
