Golf: Panthers seventh after first round of Wynlakes Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The LaGrange golf team is in seventh place after Monday's first round of the Wynlakes Intercollegiate Invitational being played at the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club.

The Panthers had a team score of 304 for the day. They are 10 shots back of first round leader and tournament host Huntingdon. The 12-team field features five teams in the Golfstat Division III top 25 rankings.

Junior Logan Lanier is one shot ahead of Jake Forbes of Piedmont and Addison Lambeth of Huntingdon in the individual standings. Lanier fired a 3-under par 69 on the day. He birdied four of the last five holes on the front nine, then reeled off nine straight pars on the back nine. Lanier was the only Panther to break par during the round.

Anthony Scolapio followed Lanier with a 4-over par 76. Osborn Theam (78), Eric Havixbeck (81), and Alex Ball (85) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers.

The tournament concludes Tuesday.
