Football: Marsalis Jackson, Lavell Meeks to play in postseason All-Star games

Senior wide receivers Marsalis Jackson and Lavell Meeks will be playing in the FCS National Bowl and the D3 Senior Classic all-star games in December.

Jackson finished his career as the school's all-time receiving yards leader with 2,378 and touchdowns scored receiving and overall with 27. He is third on the career list with 147 catches. This season, Jackson led the team for the third time in four years with 619 receiving yards. He had 43 receptions and scored six touchdowns.  As a freshman, Jackson was the USA South Offensive Rookie of the Year after setting school records with 902 receiving yards and 12 TD catches.

Meeks transferred to the Panthers last season. This season, he had 38 receptions for 521 yards and a team-leading eight TD catches. Meeks had 938 yards and 79 receptions in two seasons with the Panthers.

The FCS National Bowl will be held Dec. 4 in Daytona Beach, Florida in the Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium. The game will have players from NCAA Division 1-A (Football Championship Series), Division II, and Division III. Scouts from the National Football League, Canadien Football League, and Arena Football League will be in attendance. Last year, 26 players signed contracts with the NFL.

The D3 Senior Classic will be held Dec. 17 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. The game is part of the Pro-Dip National Scouting Showcase.
