Football: Provost downs President in annual Banks Hall rivalry game

In the annual Banks Hall rivalry game, the Provost downed the President 34-7 on Saturday at Callaway Stadium. The win evened the series between the rivals at 2-2.

Quarterback Alex Scott threw two touchdown pass and Tyler Rowland added another score in the air for the Provost, in the final game for Coach David Garrison, who will be retiring. Devonte Wheaton added a touchdown run and caught a pass for another score. Brendan Thomas and Jaylen Turner each had a touchdown reception. Daniel Curry closed out the Provost scoring with a run in the fourth quarter.

For Coach Dan McAlexander's squad, quarterback Robert Allen's touchdown pass to Levi Dunn accounted for the President scoring.

The Panthers now turn their attention to preparing for the 2016 season opener next Saturday in Birmingham, Ala. against Birmingham-Southern. This marks the ninth straight season the two teams have opened the season. Kickoff is 7 p.m. EDT.
